Belton Industries, Inc. began in 1916 as a partnership between two brothers-in-law. The initial business was developed to remanufacture cotton bale wrap procured from local textile mills.

From 1916 to 1997, one of the company's core businesses was providing packaging products for raw cotton and later synthethic fibers. During this 81 year period, the company operated manufacturing facilities in the United States as well as in India and East Pakistan (Bangladesh). In 1997, the company's original fiber packaging business was sold to Leggett & Platt, Carthage, Missouri.

During the 1960's and 1970's, the company also was engaged in the manufacture of interlining fabrics for men's tailored clothing.

Today, the company is composed of two corporate divisions. The Specialty Fabrics Division is a premier "made to order" manufacturer of specialty woven polypropylene fabrics for industrial, agricultural and engineering applications. The International Division is the trading arm of the company, utilizing many year's of experience, associations and sourcing and logistics competence. This division oversees all of the firm's import/export activities and more recently has used its know-how to develop a high-quality leather accesssories business.

Belton Industries, Inc. has its headquarters and primary manufacturing facility in Belton, South Carolina, U.S.A. The company maintains distribution centers or offices in Atlanta, GA, Newport Beach, CA, Hanford, CA, Calcutta, India, Madras, India and New Delhi, India.
